About A Raymond Tinnerman

A Raymond Tinnerman is the result of the 2009 merger of industrial manufacturers A Raymond and Tinnerman. Tinnerman was formed in Cleveland, Ohio in 1870 by George Tinnerman. The company was a manufacturer of stoves until 1936 when Tinnerman’s son created a new type of steel fastener, called the ‘Speed Nut,’  to solve a persistent issue with the company’s product shipment. From here, the company went in a completely new direction, commercializing the Speed Nut in the stove market and beyond. This change was so successful that Tinnerman shut down its stove business entirely and became the primary fastener supplier for all U.S. Aircraft in WWII. Following the conclusion of WWII, Tinnerman turned its focus to the automotive industry. Tinnerman fasteners became a great success due to the fact that they held parts in place without the need for additional welding or riveting, saving manufacturers time. The company became the main supplier of fasteners for the Ford Motor Company.

A Raymond, formed in 1865, was a conglomerate with businesses in a variety of industries including the glove, shoe, leather, textile, radio, construction, and automotive industries. As a result of their diversity, the company holds over 800 industrial patents. The two companies came together in 2009 to become A Raymond Tinnerman. Since then, they have proven to be a leader in the North American fastener and assembly markets.

Products

• Speed Nut: Tinnerman Speed Nuts come in two types: Standard and Insert. Standard Speed Nuts are flat stamped nuts with an impression designed to follow the thread pitch of the stud, while Insert Speed Nuts are circular and feature inner barbs to grab onto a post and a screw impression to receive a specified screw. They come in a variety of sizes, materials, and hole diameters.
• Expansion Nut: Available in a variety of sizes and materials, A Raymond Tinnerman expansion nuts are push-in type nuts used when the back panel of a machine is not accessible. The part is used by snapping into a square hole in the substrate and is secured by driving a screw into the expandable legs.
• Speed Clips: A Raymond Tinnerman manufactures a variety of panel speed clips in types including cable clip, s-clip, u-clip, u-clip special, and push rivet. Their primary function is to attach a cable to a flat panel or hold two panels together. Push rivets are an exception, as their function is to attach a component or panel to an adjacent panel. It features a cylindrical hollow dart that snaps into a hole and expands when a secondary pin is pushed into the dart.
• Nut/Bolt Assembly: Assemblies come in three types: quickie stud, speed grip, and U-nut max. The quickie stud is a fastener that features a bolt designed to self-retain in key slots. Speed grips are assemblies that consist of a square cage and nut or screw. The cage itself attaches to the back side of a panel. U-nuts are U-shaped fasteners and bolt assemblies designed to sit on the edge of a panel. The mating panel is placed over the bolt and secured with a nut.
