About Bell Industries Inc.

Bell Techlogix began as Bell Radio Supply in 1952. During the 1960s and 1970s, Bell acquired approximately 30 companies, expanding its reach into markets related to graphic arts, building products, motor vehicle parts, and recreational products. In November,1996, the company announced a merger agreement with Milgray Electronics Inc. Bell Techlogix was formed in 1998, and was intended to serve as Bell's systems integration group. This subsidiary provided integrated technology solutions to customers across the U.S.. The electronics manufacturing segment of Bell’s business now functions as the J.W. Miller Division. Bell currently operates as Bell Techlogix Inc, a provider of integrated technology solutions for customers in the Midwest and Atlantic regions.

Electronics

Bell’s electronics segment encompasses one of the industry’s largest electronic component distributors. Bell Industries sells the following products: semiconductors (analog devices, microelectronics, maxim, microchip, national semiconductor, SGS-thomson, Siliconix); passive components (aromat, bourns, kemet, vishay); connectors (Berg); microcomputers and related products (Apple, Compac, Hewlett-Packard, IBM); power supplies (Power-One) and board-level products. They provide value-added services including custom cables, harnesses, connectors, contract purchasing, and direct programming of microchips. Group manufacturing operations produce switches, push-buttons and electroluminescent panels used in commercial aircraft; precision stampings used in the personal computer industry; and electronic components including coils, filters and chokes.

Bell Techlogix markets electronic components through seven regional service centers; regional service centers support selling operations in the following geographic areas and locations: Northwest (Sunnyvale, California); Southwest (Orange County, California); Central (Chicago, Illinois); Heartland (Indianapolis, Indiana); Northeast (Boston, Massachusetts); Mid-Atlantic (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) and Southern (Orlando, Florida). The group's microcomputer distribution and services business is based in Indianapolis, Indiana, and provides services through four facilities located in Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky. Electronic manufacturing facilities are located in Redmond, Washington; Mountain View, California; and Gardena, California.

Graphic Arts

The graphic arts segment entails the distribution of graphic arts supplies and equipment throughout a network of states including California, Nevada, and Arizona. These products are targeted towards the advertising and printing industries. Major product lines distributed by Bell Techlogix include film, plates, chemicals and printing supplies from Agfa, DuPont, Eastman Kodak, and 3M. They also distribute prepress and related electronic imaging equipment from Agfa, Apple, Howtek, Intergraph, Linotype-Hell, and Screen.

Recreational Products

The recreational products segment centers around the distribution of after-market products for recreational vehicles, mobile homes, motorcycles, snowmobiles, and marine industries. These products are shipped from facilities in St. Paul, Minnesota and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Bell Techlogix supplies more than 9,000 recreational vehicle-related products, over 8,500 marine components, 11,000 motorcycle parts, and 4,000 snowmobile items. Major product lines distributed by Bell Industries include Alcoa, Coleman/Recreational Products, Inc., Dunlop, NGK, and Nordyne.
