About McDonnell Douglas Corporation
McDonnell Douglas Corporation was a major American aerospace manufacturer and defense contractor. The company began in 1967 following the merger of McDonnell Aircraft and the Douglas Aircraft Company. Throughout its existence, the company produced a wide range of commercial and military aircraft, such as the DC-10 airliner, F-15 Air Superiority fighter, and the F/A-18 Hornet multi-role fighter. The company also produced missiles, as well as rockets used by NASA in the historic Apollo space program. In 1997, the company merged with Boeing, at which point the McDonnel Douglas name was dropped. Boeing integrated the McDonnell Douglas logo into its own, which remains to this day.
