About Harris Corporation
Harris Corporation has a long history beginning with its foundation in 1895 as the Harris Automatic Press Company. Over the following decades, Harris focused on printing presses and lithographic processes. They also acquired a broadcast transmitter producer for electronics. In 1959, they continued their push into electronics with the acquisition of PRD Electronics, who produced microwave technology. In 1967, Harris merged with Radiation, Inc. which was a developer of antenna, integrated circuits, and modem technology. In 1979, Harris formed a joint venture for semiconductors, marking their entrance in the semiconductor market and over the following decades leading up to the 1990’s, Harris continued acquiring semiconductor businesses until they sold them off by the turn of the century. The 2010’s marked Harris’ expansion into aviation and defense divisions. In 2018, Harris and L3 Technologies announced that they would be merging together by the middle of 2019 as L3 Harris Technologies, Inc.
