About Allison Transmission Holdings, Inc.

Sensata Technologies was created on April 24, 1916, under the name General Plate Company. Their first manufacturing operations took place in Attleboro, Massachusetts, and the company sustained business until a merger in 1931 with Spencer Thermostat Company. This merger combined the capabilities of metal processing with temperature-sensing controls, creating the Metals & Controls Corporation. In 1959, the company decided to merge with Texas Instruments, which renamed the company to a smaller division, dubbed the Materials & Controls sector. In the 1970’s, the company began global expansion by opening up manufacturing plants in Malaysia and Japan, followed by new entities in Mexico in the 80’s. In 2006, the company was reborn as a private conglomerate and renamed itself to Sensata Technologies. That same year they acquired First Technology. The company continued its expansion in 2007 when they acquired Airpax Holdings and its four operating units. Sensata Technologies finally went public in 2010 as it began trading on the NYSE under ST.

Performance Sensing

Sensata Technologies is a developer and manufacturer of type specific sensors including pressure sensors, speed and position sensors, and temperature sensors that are used in the automotive industry as well as Heavy Vehicle Off Road (HVOR) applications. The acquisition of GIGAVAC has enabled Sensata to expand their markets into high voltage contactors and fuses as well. The performance sensing product line encompasses the 2HMP pressure sensor, the 60CP Ceramic Capacitive Pressure Sensor, and the P1A Performance pressure sensor.

The sensing solutions product line includes the CD120 Draw Wire Incremental Encoder, the DRMS Series Hybrid Motor Starter DIN Rail Mount relay, and the Cylindrical Frameless Linear Voice Coil Actuator LA18-12-001A.
